Trucker was staying at the Ronald McDonald House with his mother. They had been on an outing and were returning home when he saw the NYFD firefighters and got excited. Then, he found the captain and had to say hello.

The captain and team were all curious about why the mother-son duo was leaving the Big Apple. She explained that Trucker had stage-four cancer, and there was nothing more to do. They wanted to be together as a family.

To make it more special, the Hawaiian fire service added Trucker’s name to the official register. Now, this young boy lived on, even though he passed away. His father actually gained comfort from this.

Marin County Fire Department has been there for Trucker’s family before and after the boy passed away. Throckmorton Ridge Fire Station even welcomed them with a sign that showed solidarity. It read “TruckerRidesWithUs.”
